A short note on digitalEPIGRAPHY's Second Anniversary

Today marks the second anniversary of digitalEPIGRAPHY, our website designed for Egyptologists to help their work documenting ancient Egyptian monuments. I would have never thought that a handful of dedicated and enthusiastic people can take an idea this far and even expand upon the original concept!

Built on the solid ground provided by the free eBook Digital Epigraphy (written in 2013), the digitalEPIGRAPHY website quickly became what we always wanted it to be: a dynamic collection of current trends in digital documentation tools and methods, and a public display for the Survey’s projects in general.

The past two years have proved that we made the right decision by abandoning the more static book format with its much slower update cycle. The added flexibility of a website allowed us to release material in an instant and give you a glimpse of the process of designing our methods. This is unprecedented in the Survey’s history.

We could share our knowledge of the latest software and hardware innovations by providing our own reviews of the tools we find useful for our epigraphic work. This was no small task, something none of us has ever done before!

I want to thank all my colleagues who were (and still are) involved in making digitalEPIGRAPHY the informative and versatile data resource that it is today. I would also like to thank our readers for their continuous support! I can make one promise for the next year: no matter the circumstances, we'll keep providing relevant new information for your epigraphic work.
